Understanding Your Express Care Visit Charges

Wentworth-Douglass Express Care in Dover and Lee are hospital-based centers, meaning they are part of Wentworth-Douglass Hospital. At these centers, you are receiving high quality care that meets stringent federal guidelines and protocols - and rapid transfer ability should your diagnosis require a transfer to the Emergency Department for a higher level of care. The team also provides expedited appointments to establish a relationship with a primary care provider or follow-up appointments for specialized care.

How will I be billed?

Express Care patients will receive two bills – one from Wentworth-Douglass Hospital for services rendered at Express Care, and one from Seacoast Emergency Physicians for the provider who evaluated and treated you.

If your Express Care visit includes diagnostic testing, additional charges will occur:

  • for lab work that needs to be sent offsite for additional testing.
  • for x-ray interpretation. Seacoast Radiology Associates will send a bill for interpreting your diagnostic test.

If your Express Care visit includes durable medical equipment (such as crutches, knee or ankle splints, etc.) this will result in an additional bill from OrthoCare.

Review your insurance coverage

All services will be billed directly to your insurance company. Coverage for services at Express Care vary by insurance plan and you may be required to meet your annual deductible before your insurance company will pay for healthcare services you receive. Your insurance company may also require you to pay a percentage of the bill, called “co-insurance” in addition to a “co-pay”.

We recommend that you review your insurance benefits or contact your insurance provider to determine your coverage and identify any out-of-pocket expenses you may incur. The contact information for your insurance company is located on the back of your insurance card.

For those who do not have insurance, we offer a “self-pay” discount.
